Dr. Sanket Patil

Dr. Sanket Patil joined IIM Bangalore as Assistant Professor in the Economics area on 17th August 2022. He is also IIMB Young Faculty Research Chair.

Dr. Patil holds a PhD in Managerial Economics and Strategy from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; MS in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute Delhi; and B Tech (Hons) and M Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He was among the top 2% of examinees in the IIT Entrance Examination.

Dr. Patil’s research focuses on microeconomic theory, specifically behavioral theory and organizational economics. He incorporates non-Bayesian information processing into strategic settings such as persuasion and expert-client relationships to better understand economic institutions. Some of his recent research focuses on modelling and understanding the role of fiduciary duty in aligning the interests of experts with their clients.

Before joining IIMB, Dr. Patil worked as a Teaching Assistant for various courses taught at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Before his PhD, he also worked as a Materials Engineer at Airbus Engineering Centre in Bangalore for around two years.
