Twenty-five-year-old Anurag hails from Nagpur. His father is a first-generation entrepreneur who built a successful industrial packaging business, and his mother is a homemaker. Anurag has two sisters – one is a professional chef, and the other is an investment professional.

Anurag has achieved significant success in both international and national case competitions, during his term at IIMB. He won the national finals of the CFA Research Challenge, also known as ‘The Investment Olympics’ for university students and qualified to represent India and IIMB at the APAC subregional round. He won the national finals of the Venture Capital Investment Competition and will represent India and IIMB at the global finals to be held in the US. Furthermore, Anurag consistently represented IIMB and excelled in corporate competitions including Reliance TUP, TresVista, Adani Wilmar Challenge and B-Starters by NSRCEL.

Passionate about entrepreneurship, Anurag has been deeply involved with the start-up ecosystem. He served as a Student Investment Partner with Campus Fund, a $10Million VC Fund, where he led multiple investments. He was also associated with the Government of Karnataka’s flagship start-up program ‘Elevate’ as a jury member for their EdTech panel, where the government disbursed equity-free grants to start-ups across the state.

Anurag served as the Treasurer of Networth, the Finance Club of IIMB. He served as the Co-editor of the Inter-IIM finance publication Bottomline, which included contributions from IIMA, IIMC and IIML. Anurag was also the Senior Coordinator of the PE-VC Society. He has been captain of the Table Tennis team and won three gold medals and the Best Player prize across in inter-IIM Table Tennis competitions.

About his IIMB learning experience, he says that the two years at IIMB have been transformational not just for building hard skills like Data Analysis and Financial Modelling, but also for developing skills like People Management and Communication. “The case-based pedagogy gave us an opportunity to put ourselves in the shoes of business leaders and deliberate on possible alternatives the business could have taken. I believe this is the best way to develop management thinking. IIMB’s focus on peer learning through various projects and class discussions helped me immensely in widening my horizons. The ability of the programme to get industry leaders in classes as guest speakers was the highlight of my time at IIMB.”

Anurag aspires to start his career in Consulting to gain exposure across multiple industries and hopes to eventually build a career in Private Equity and Investing. He adds, “In the long run, I hope to play an active role in policy making by entering active politics as I believe that is the best way to make long-term social change and impact.”
