IMR Doctoral Conference (IMRDC) 2021
The twelfth edition of the IMR Doctoral Conference (IMRDC) was held on 4, 5 & 6 February, 2021. The IMRDC is a pre-eminent annual doctoral colloquium in Management Science and associated disciplines, co-organized by IIMB Management Review, IIMB’s academic quarterly publication and the Office of the Doctoral Programme of the institute.
IMRDC 2021 was a virtual edition, with Prof. Tirthatanmoy Das, from the Economics & Social Sciences area, and Prof. Pearl Malhotra, from the OBHRM area, as Co-Chairpersons of the Conference.
This year IMRDC received 90 full paper submissions from top management and social science institutes across the country and from international institutions as well. After three rounds of review, 10 papers out of the 90 were selected for presentation at the conference. The Review Advisory Committee comprising IIMB faculty members supported the Chairs in the selection process. Commended, in particular, for its ‘one exclusive discussant per paper’ format, IMRDC 2021 also saw one dedicated discussant, from distinguished institutions across the country and overseas, critique each of the 10 presentations and offer comments and constructive feedback.
Keynote sessions by distinguished academics from across the globe are a highlight of the conference every year. IMRDC 2021 included three Keynote sessions:
- What’s the purpose of research? by Marc-David L. Seidel, Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia
- Recent empirical approaches in research on firm and worker productivity, by Jagadeesh Sivadasan, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan
- Engaging with qualitative research, by Mukta Kulkarni, Mphasis Chair for Digital Accessibility and Inclusion, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore
The sessions were well-attended and saw enthusiastic participation from a virtual audience across geographies.
