Prof. Mukta Kulkarni is part of ILO panel on disability sector as engine of economic growth
Prof. Mukta Kulkarni, the Mphasis Chair of Inclusion and Accessibility at IIM Bangalore, was part of a ILO panel on the topic ‘Disability Sector as an Engine for Economic Growth’. She spoke on how a focus disability is a win for all. “We can conduct research wherein we can focus on: (a) the economic impact on the family when a family member with a disability secures and maintains employment; (b) his/her macro contribution via taxes, (c) the GDP boost when x number of employees with a disability join the Indian workforce, (d) changes in organizational innovation brought about for and by employees with a disability (which has implications for the organization’s market share), (e ) jobs created in the economy as those with a disability are supported (e.g., via assistive devices),” said Prof. Mukta Kulkarni.
The webinar, on May 05th, was organised by Catalyst 2030, a global movement by social entrepreneurs to work on UN SDG (United Nations sustainable development goals). Catalysing Change Week has over 100 sessions run by Ashoka fellows.
