Valedictory of the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Management of Nationalized Banks
IIMB’s Executive Education concluded the second edition of the Leadership Development Programme for senior management of the country’s nationalized banks, with a live, online valediction event on 10th July, 2021. The Programme Directors were Prof. R Srinivasan and Prof. G Ramesh. A total of 66 senior management personnel (DGMs and GMs), from 11 nationalized banks, completed a year-long learning intervention that equipped them with competencies and knowledge to take on current and emerging challenges in a competitive marketplace.
Debashis Panda, Secretary DFS and Member, Banks Board Bureau, and Sunil Mehta, Chief Executive, Indian Banks Association, addressed the participants and congratulated them. Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, delivered the valedictory address. He congratulated the participants on completing the programme and hoped that all the new methods, techniques and perspectives learnt during this programme will not only help participants to be at the forefront of India’s recovery post the pandemic, but also in returning to the growth path in the years ahead. He also emphasized on adapting digital technology, building partnerships, paying attention towards decision-making biases, being sensitive to early warning signals, etc. In his address, Debashis Panda urged the leaders to think differently and make a difference to the life of people while working on a paradigm of empathy. Sunil Mehta encouraged the participants to rise to the occasion in this transforming stage of the banking industry by adapting to technology and digitalization.
The program is a landmark initiative and a first-of-its-kind talent development program for PSBs in order to build a leadership pipeline covering 200 top managers over a three-year period. An initiative of the Banks Board Bureau, it is a collaborative endeavor supported by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance (GoI), Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), and a Knowledge Partner – MS Egon Zehnder International Pvt. Ltd. The sponsors were the Managing Directors of all the participating banks.
