Prof. L S Murty retires from IIM Bangalore after three decades of outstanding service

Professor L S Murty, from the Production & Operations Management area of IIM Bangalore, retired from the services of the institute on August 31, 2021.
Prof. Murty joined IIMB on September 24, 1991 as Assistant Professor. He was promoted as Associate Professor from October 25, 1995 and as Professor from April 10, 2001.
Prof. Murty served as Director at IIM Nagpur from March 23, 2017 to October 06, 2020.
At IIMB, Prof. Murty served as PGP Chairperson from June 2012 to June 2014. He was also a Career Development Committee member and member of the Supply Chain Management Centre (Advisory Council) at the institute.
Prof. Murty is a Fellow of IIM Ahmedabad and has a B Tech from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. His areas of interest are in the fields of Operations Planning and Operations Strategy.
During his academic career, he has developed several case studies; taught courses on Operations Management, Operations Planning, Operations Strategy, Quantitative Methods, Research Methodology, Management Information Systems and Corporate Strategy; and designed and conducted several Executive Development programmes for various organizations like ABB, BHEL, BPL, Crompton Greaves, HUL, Infosys, ITI, National Association of Civil Supplies Corporations, Orissa State Electricity Board, Saint Gobain, Siemens, Tata Motors, TCS, and Wipro.
Prof. Murty has also been consultant for companies both in the private and public sectors. He is a certified SAP R/3 Application Consultant – Production Planning. Moreover, he has conducted national workshops on Case Method for business executives and management school teachers, sponsored by the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools.
Prof. Murty was the recipient of the Best Teacher Award and Most Responsive Professor for the year 1999-2000 at IIMB.
