Students, staff, faculty at IIMB come together to celebrate 77th Independence Day
The Tricolour was hoisted by the IIMB Director, Dr Rishikesha T Krishnan, and the national anthem sung by students, faculty and staff filled on 15th August, air on campus.
The ceremony began with a march past by the Institute’s security personnel, turned out, as always, in crisp and gleaming gear. Students, led by the PGP Cultural Secretary Dimple Doshi, outdid themselves with creative renditions of Vande Mataram, Ma Tujhe Salaam, and Satyameva Jayate. The flautist Rushikesh Patil, a first-year PGP student, was particularly brilliant. The student-members of ‘Goonj’, the theatre club, staged a ‘nukkad natak’ with a strong social message that questioned the oft-heard chant of ‘log kya kehenge!’ Members of the student clubs, ‘Taal’ and ‘Dhwani’, performed a fusion medley. The Staff Recreation Committee (SRC) of IIMB, led by Hostel Officer Komala Devi, offered a melodious rendition of the patriotic song in Kannada, ‘Bharatiyaru naavu endendu ondhe’. The audience was treated to a soulful and stirring rendition of ‘Ae mere pyaare watan/ ae mere bichde chaman’ by 17-year-old Abhipsa Mohapatra.
Students and staff who went beyond the call of duty and rendered exceptional service, in the year past, were recognised with awards.
