Inauguration of second edition of the Business Management Programme for Defence Officers
A certificate programme offered to retiring officers of the Short Service Commission (SSC)/ Indian Defence Forces, it is designed in association with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) to help the participants make the transition to a corporate career by developing their core business and general management competencies.
The programme is based on the successful EGMP offered by IIMB which is in its 65th edition and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offered by IIMBx, the digital learning vertical of IIMB. It is a 20-day programme delivered in a hybrid mode over six months and includes lectures on campus as well as self-paced learning through MOOCs. The participants involve themselves in case studies and discussions, role-play, interaction with industry practitioners, and more. They benefit immensely through continuous learning and networking with peers.
The cohort comprises 78 officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Major General Sharad Kapur, YSM, SM, Director General, Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, and Major General Ravi Murugan, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, HQ K & K Sub Area, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, were the Chief Guests and addressed the participants at the inauguration. The programme is anchored by a four-faculty team comprising Dr. G Shainesh (Marketing), Dr. Vasanthi Srinivasan (OB&HRM), Dr. Padmini Srinivasan (Finance), and Dr. P D Jose (Strategy).
