Centre for Teaching and Learning hosts the 7th and 8th editions of the Doctoral Consortium on Teaching
The Centre for Teaching and Learning hosted the 7th and 8th editions of its annual Doctoral Consortium on Teaching – an initiative with a focus on pedagogical approaches and other related topics that may benefit the doctoral students as they enter academia.
The programme was spread across January and February, hosting two batches of doctoral students from several premier institutes, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Indore, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, IIM Ranchi, IIM Udaipur, EDII Ahmedabad, XLRI Jamshedpur, ISB Hyderabad, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur. In all, 61 PhD scholars attended the consortium, which also included IIMB’s internal doctoral cohort.
The programme covered an array of well-wrought sessions and panel discussions, focusing on multiple facets of teaching and learning. Mostly led by IIMB’s faculty members, these sessions and discussions touched upon relevant topics such as the role of technology in enabling classroom education, the key drivers of learning, teaching quantitative subjects, classroom management, course design, preparing for academic interviews, and designing and delivering executive programmes. The programme also incorporated sessions on different pedagogical approaches such as case teaching methodology, lecture-based teaching, and experiential learning through simulations and gamification, to name a few.
During his address to the participants, Dr. Sushanta Mishra, Chairperson of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, stressed the criticality of pedagogical innovations to better equip oneself for a career in academics.
