Centre for Teaching & Learning conducts Faculty Development Programme at Sri Lanka’s Northern Uni on 7 & 8 June
With the goal of co-creating and disseminating knowledge on effective teaching and learning in higher education, particularly in the management domain, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) hosted a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on 7th and 8th June 2025 at Northern Uni, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, a higher education initiative by MAGICK Group supported by SLIIT.
The participants were early career as well as experienced faculty members from the Northern Uni and various campuses of SLIIT (Business School, Kandy Campus and Engineering Faculty).
The sessions, led by Dr. Sourav Mukherji, Dean, Alumni Relations & Development and faculty in the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area, and Dr. R. Srinivasan, Chairperson, Center for Digital Public Goods and faculty of Strategy, involved sharing best practices, group exercises, deep thinking and intense classroom participation. While Dr. Mukherji delved deep into the Drivers of Learning, Case Method of Teaching, Teaching with Technology and Quality & Accreditation, Prof. Srinivasan introduced the essentials of Management Teaching and Course Design, Pedagogical Choices, Managing Student Feedback and Assessments: Integration and Valediction.
The instructors also focused on demonstrating how they adapt, connect, modify and even connect different teaching pedagogies to suit the classroom dynamics, learning level of students and learning goals.
With this third collaboration with a foreign university, the Centre is looking forward to extending support to strengthen HEIs and engage in changemaking FDPs outside of India.
