Professor Hema Swaminathan

Professor Hema Swaminathan is leaving IIM Bangalore after over 18 years with the Institute. She joined IIMB as faculty in the Public Policy Area.  She obtained her PhD in Agricultural Economics from The Pennsylvania State University, USA , MSc in Economics from University of Bristol, UK and BA in Economics from Sophia College, University of Mumbai.

She has published widely —  research papers in peer reviewed top journals, book chapters, working/discussion papers, technical reports, policy briefs besides articles in mainstream media.

She is a recipient of the Shireen Lateef Gender Operations Award for Best Gender Knowledge Product (ADB). She has received several prestigious fellowships for gender related research.

Besides exemplary performance in teaching and research, her contributions to institutional service are outstanding. At IIMB, she held several senior administrative positions such as  Chairperson – Internal Committee,  Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy besides serving as a member of several other institute committees.
