IIMB Chapter of SPIC MACAY hosted Yamini 2024 featuring top artistes of classical music
The dusk to dawn Indian classical music festival, on the eve of Republic Day, was open to all. Yamini 2024, an Indian classical music and dance festival organised by IIM Bangalore in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, was held on 25th and 26th January, 2024. This annual event, which begins around 7 pm on 25th January and culminates at 6 am on 26th January with five awe-inspiring performances, celebrates the rich heritage of Indian classical music and culture.
Yamini has been organised by IIM Bangalore and SPIC MACAY for the past 19 years on the eve of Republic Day, making this the 20th edition of the event. Also, the event is part of IIMB’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, this year. Yamini is an integral part of Bengaluru’s cultural calendar as the event is free and open to all.
The artistes at Yamini 2024 included Padma Bhushan Begum Parween Sultana, Carnatic vocalist Padma Shri A. Kanyakumari, Margi Madhu, one of the leading Indian contemporary artistes of Koodiyattam, Shri Pravin Godkhindi, an eclectic classical flautist, and the Malladi Brothers, Sreeramprasad and Ravikumar, who sing Carnatic vocal music together. They were accompanied by accomplished artistes. The Open Air Theatre at IIM Bangalore was packed with connoisseurs enjoying the performances of the renowned artistes from dusk to dawn.
