A Delight that was IIMB Staff Retreat 2024

Like every other year, this year too, IIM Bangalore staff members had their ‘day out’, a day of rejuvenation and building bonds, during the Staff Retreat organized by the Human Resources department and the Staff Recreation Club (SRC) of the institute, on 24 and 25 May 2024.

IIMB Staff Retreat 2024 for the non-teaching employees was a two-day event planned in two locations – Sugee Resort and IIMB new campus in Jigani.

Day One on 24 May at Sugee Resort started with a hearty breakfast, which fuelled the employees for the various team-building and recreational activities conducted after that. Some of the vital aspects covered during these activities include stress management, strength of unity, collaboration, communication, delegation, multi-tasking, problem solving, time management, winning, decision making, individual effort and team effort, self-esteem, and more.

These activities will go a long way in helping the staff in getting to know each other as well as new employees more; encourage one-on-one interaction; help learn and grow; boost collaboration; improve communication and build trust; enhance strategic planning skills; develop creative thinking, and help foster more direction and meaning at the workplace.

After lunch and high tea at the resort, the staff moved to the new IIMB campus which had more enjoyment in store for them, other than the gastronomical delights. The evening included a live music performance by Sunil Koshy, an award-winning singer, composer and vocal coach, and Co-founder of ‘From Mug to Mike’. He has collaborated with legends like KS Chithra, Hariharan, Kumar Sanu, and trained over 12,000 passionate and amateur singers. That evening, the amateur singers from IIMB also had a great time sharing the stage with him, singing and dancing all the way. It was wonderful to watch the team leaders and managers and everybody else, shake a leg together.

The staff had an early morning on Day Two, during which one team went trekking around the new campus, while the less adventurous explored in and around the campus, enjoying the scenic beauty. After breakfast, the staff returned to the IIMB Bannerghatta Road campus, completely invigorated.
