Professor Rajendra K Bandi
Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Professor, Information Systems Area, superannuated on 31st July 2025 after a service of 27 years at the Institute.
Prof. Bandi obtained his PhD from Georgia State University, and prior to that obtained his undergraduate and graduate level degrees from NIT Jamshedpur and XLRI Jamshedpur, respectively. He worked with ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards, and NIIT Technologies before shifting to academia. Prior to joining IIM Bangalore he has taught at the colleges of business in Georgia State University, and Florida Gulf Coast University. He has also been a Visiting Professor at University of Cologne Germany, University Carlos III of Madrid Spain, Hanoi School of Business Vietnam, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Visakhapatnam and XLRI School of Management, Jamshedpur.
His research interests include Information Ethics & Privacy, Social Impact of ICTs, Trust in Digital Economy etc. He was invited by ILO Geneva to present his research on ‘Jobs on the Move: Relocation of eWork’. At IIMB, Prof. Bandi taught courses on Managing Digital Transformation, Managing Software Projects, Strategic Information Systems, Information Systems Analysis, Object-Oriented Software Engineering, Information Systems Research Foundations, Theoretical Analysis of Information Systems, etc.
Prof. Bandi received several awards during his career with the recent one being the Lifetime Achievement Award from NIT Jamshedpur. Other notable ones include ‘Best Case Award’ for the case titled, ‘Service Delivery in Remote Customer Support: A BPO Case’ at the 16th AIMS Convention, ‘Best Elective Award’ for the course titled, ‘Information Systems Analysis’, IIM Bangalore, 2000, ‘Best Short Paper Award’ for the paper titled, ‘A ‘Linking Pin’ or Beyond? A Decision Rights Perspective of the Guardian Vendor Role in IT Multisourcing’, International Conference on Information Systems 2020, etc.
Besides exemplary performance in teaching and research, Prof. Bandi’s contributions to institutional service have been outstanding. At IIMB, he held several senior administrative positions. Major ones include Member of the Board of Governors, Dean-Administration, Chairperson PGSEM, Chairperson Admissions & Financial Aid, Convenor CAT 2016, Chairperson ITFAC, Chairperson ERP, Chairperson CSITM, Area Chair, Chairperson Admissions for IIM Visakhapatnam, etc. He has also served on various other Institute committees throughout his long career. As Dean-Administration, he contributed significantly towards leading the Institute through the challenging period of COVID. His contributions towards ERP implementation at the Institute remains commendable.
