Climate Connect session at NSRCEL explores impact of space innovation on climate resilience
NSRCEL, in collaboration with Avaana Capital, hosted ‘Climate Connect: The Next Orbit – Space Tech for a Resilient Earth’, a roundtable that brought together investors, scientists, founders and enablers to explore how space innovation can strengthen climate resilience.
The speakers of the Climate Connect session included Swapna Gupta, Partner, Avaana Capital; Raghava K, Founder and CEO, Sanyark Space and ex-ISRO scientist; Apurwa Masook, Founder and CEO, SpaceFields; Dr. Debiprosad Roy Mahapatra, Professor, Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science; Ravi Jain, Investment Director, TDK Ventures; Siddharth Jena, Founder and CEO, AkashaLabdhi Pvt.Ltd., and Prof. Nagaraja (Naga) Prakasam, Mentor in Residence, NSRCEL and Partner, Acumen.
The event saw discussions on the space tech ecosystem that covered topics such as identifying key levers that can accelerate the role of space tech in climate solutions; unlocking upstream and downstream innovation opportunities; understanding what founders need to build in space tech – from both founder and investor perspectives; exploring industries where space tech can have transformative impact – including defence, pharma, telecommunications, agriculture and aquaculture, and addressing bottlenecks in policy, funding and testing infrastructure that continue to slow down innovation.
A key takeaway from the event was the observation that space technology is moving beyond exploration to become a critical enabler across industries, while shaping solutions for earth’s most urgent challenges.
