CSITM hosted a webinar on how ‘David vs Goliath’ signals drive online user engagement

The Centre for Software and IT Management (CSITM) at the IIM Bangalore, as part of its ‘Top IS Publications from India’ webinar series, hosted a session featuring Dr. Ayushi Tandon, Assistant Professor at Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin, on 23 December 2025.

The webinar centred on Dr. Tandon’s publication titled ‘Does David Make a Goliath? Impact of Rival’s Expertise Signals on Online User Engagement’ brought together researchers, scholars, and practitioners interested in the dynamics of digital platforms, user engagement, and behavioural responses to competitive cues. The discussion highlighted how users interpret status (relative expertise) and past performance (absolute expertise) signals from rivals in competitive online environments, thereby addressing an important theoretical gap in the literature.
