Book launch panel featuring Prof. G. Sabarinathan revisits Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s investing legacy
Prof. G. Sabarinathan, Retd. Professor of Finance and Accounting at IIM Bangalore and Programme Director of the IIMBx FinTech Programme for Young Professionals, was part of a special panel at the launch of the book Rare: Investing the Rakesh Jhunjhunwala Way by Nandini Vijayaraghavan, held at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) library in February. The conversation brought together the author, Prof. Sabarinathan and Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, former Managing Director of Titan, who reflected on his long professional association with Jhunjhunwala and the investor’s lasting influence on India’s corporate landscape.
Discussions took a close look at Jhunjhunwala’s investment philosophy, his role in shaping India’s equity markets and the broader evolution of Indian finance over the past few decades. Drawing on both scholarly and practitioner perspectives, Prof. Sabarinathan took stock of how the book situates Jhunjhunwala’s journey within the larger transformation of India’s financial ecosystem.
In his detailed review of the book available on the IIMB Blog, Prof. Sabarinathan goes on to describe it as both a compelling study in investing and a richly documented account of a defining era in India’s economic history, which offers insights of value to practitioners, scholars and students.
