Dr. Abraham Koshy joined IIMB on 10th November as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Management Communication area. He received his Doctoral Degree in Media and Communication from Temple University, USA , Masters in Journalism( Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree) from University of Amsterdam and Aarhus University and B .S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Abraham Koshy is a scholar of Communication, Media, and Politics. His teaching and research explore persuasive communication in intergroup settings, examining how such communication shapes attitudes and behaviors in both mediated and interpersonal contexts. His current work focuses on designing and studying news recommender systems in India that are grounded in democratic and communication theory.
Before joining academia, he founded and served as Editor-in-Chief of LURU Magazine, a print-only publication launched in 2025 to foster a shared communicative space for citizens of Bengaluru to reflect on urban identity and belonging.
His earlier research examined variations in trust in the news media as an outcome of intergroup communication using cross-national survey data. He earned his PhD in Media and Communication from Temple University in 2024 and his BS in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
