Sarthak Jain, Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) 2021-2023, Gold Medallist – First Rank Holder

Sarthak Jain, aged 25 years, hails from Bikaner, Rajasthan. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from IIT Delhi. Before joining the MBA programme at IIM Bangalore, he worked for two years as a Quantitative Analyst at Voltaire Advisory Services, Mumbai. 

Sarthak’s grandfather was a Professor of Physics and retired as Principal, Govt. PG College, Bikaner. Sarthak’s mother is a homemaker and his father retired as Superintending Engineer, Water Resources, Govt. of Rajasthan, and is currently working as a Consultant to the Command Area Dev. Authority, Bikaner.

Sarthak has featured in the IIMB Director’s Merit List, and received the DML Award and Alumni Scholarship for the same. During his second year, he represented IIMB as an exchange student at ESCP Business School, Paris. Sarthak has successfully delivered a live consulting project for the Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, IISc Bangalore, and has also achieved national top positions in various case competitions. Besides these, Sarthak has undertaken multiple initiatives as Junior Coordinator of the Student Academic Committee and Senior Coordinator of the Investment Fund club at IIM Bangalore.

Describing the PGP in Business Analytics as a unique and forward-looking programme, Sarthak says, “The learning experience at IIMB was dynamic, challenging and engaging. From day one, I was exposed to a range of business concepts in various disciplines of Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Operations and Analytics. The experience was enhanced by a deep emphasis on case-based pedagogy, exceptional peers from diverse backgrounds, and of course, the extremely talented faculty. Over the past two years, I have gained a deep understanding of business and management, and expanded my professional network. I have also grown personally, becoming more confident in my abilities and better aware of my strengths and weaknesses.”

Regarding his future plans, he says, “I want to pursue my career as a Business Consultant for the initial few years to gain professional experience, understand the range of real-world problems that businesses face, and how strategic decisions can help solve these problems. I believe such experiences can help me work towards my broader goal in life, which is to start a Venture Capital firm aimed specifically at providing strategic guidance and hence, helping develop start-ups looking to make a real social impact on our society.”
