Enabling national skilling transformation: Leadership programme for PM-SETU officers
As nations accelerate efforts to build future-ready workforces, the ability to lead institutional transformation at scale has become mission-critical. In this context, the Government of India has partnered with IIM Bangalore to deliver a five-day Leadership Development Programme for officers driving the PM-SETU agenda. The programme was held from 11th to 15th May 2026.
Designed in close alignment with the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the programme brought together officers from National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) – key enablers of India’s skilling ecosystem. With NSTIs at the forefront of transforming into National Centres of Excellence (NCoEs), the initiative focused on equipping leaders with the capabilities required to deliver outcome-driven, industry-aligned impact.
Led by Dr. Sushanta K Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education Programmes, Research & Publications, C-DOCTA and Centre for Teaching & Learning, Editor-in-Chief, IIMB Management Review, and Chairperson and faculty of the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area, IIM Bangalore, the classroom-based immersion at the IIMB campus emphasized three critical pillars: competency building, leadership capability development and strategic thinking. Through research-backed frameworks and peer learning, participants engaged deeply with the challenges of institutional change, governance and innovation in skilling.
By blending policy context with managerial rigor, the programme reinforces IIM Bangalore’s role as a strategic partner in nation-building – empowering leaders to translate reform intent into measurable outcomes and long-term ecosystem impact.
