Inauguration of custom programmes for Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited in Nigeria

IEPL, a leading conglomerate with operations in petrochemicals, fertilisers and chemicals, and ports, approached IIMB for formalised leadership training to develop company-defined competencies in order to maintain high performance standards and prepare leaders for key leadership roles. The cohort comprised High Potential (HIPO) leaders who needed support to develop their competencies in aligning organization’s direction and strategy to drive strong execution within their teams. This also aims to assist in the development and refinement of the leaders’ skills so they can smoothly transition into leadership roles through efficient team development.

Based on inputs from CEO, Mr. Munish Jindal; CTO, Indorama Nigeria, Mr Deepu Sivadas; and Hr Head, Indorama Nigeria, Mr. Pradeep Ekka, there were two distinct programmes designed for two distinct groups of leaders. The cohorts comprised of 50% Indian nationals, and 50% Nigerian nationals.  The programme was designed and led by Dr. Debolina Dutta, faculty in the OB&HRM area at IIMB.

There were two runs of the five-day Leadership Development Programme involving 81 senior leaders. The participants focused on strategic thinking, decision-making, and execution, along with the principles of transformational leadership.

There was also a four-day Emerging Leaders Programme for 45 participants in mid-management positions. It provided them with an understanding of business strategy, macroeconomic influence in business, and effective leadership tenets.
